Settling in

It has been two weeks since I arrived in Paris and I am starting to feel settled in.

I had one of the easiest travel days I think I have ever had flying to another country. All my flights were on time, I walked right through customs with no problems, and my bag was just getting on to the conveyor belt as I got to baggage claim. If you have known me for a while you will know that my travel days haven’t always been this smooth. Flying out of the country always seems to end up to be a lot bigger of an adventure then I plan on so having a smooth travel day is a huge answer to a lot of prayers! I am still surprised at how well it went.

Once I got my bags, my beautiful host for the next three months, Alice picked me up and we went to Her house. As I have been adjusting to France Alice has been amazing at being my tour guide around the little city she lives in as well as helping with my metro pass and new SIM card for my phone. Alice lives in Servan which is outside of Paris, it is only about a thirty minute train ride to the center of Paris.
There have been a couple of days that I have taken the Metro into Paris and spent the whole day exploring Paris, trying different vegan restaurants and walking around the city. I love watching people, so these days have been my favorite so far. It is so easy to hop on a metro or walk to another fun place to eat or explore. The Metro is also so much fun! It is like the airport. People from all different places and walks of life in a very small place.

Now that French class has started I take the metro to Paris at least four times a week and it is always so much fun. My French class is surprisingly going really great as well! It was something that was giving me the most anxiety before I left so I am grateful it's gone better than expected. I didn’t start French class until Oct 2nd so for the first week and a half Alice and Her sister Lauren, who is staying with us for a few weeks, were helping me learn french. Both of them helped me a lot so when I started school I felt more good about class. My class size is really small and the professor is very kind so it is always fun to go to class. I am not that confident in my French yet but I would say I don’t feel like I am drowning so I say that is an answer to my prayers!

As I sit in a Starbuck (for their free WiFi) near the Monument à la République I am reminded of all the prayers that were prayed about this trip and how so many of them have already been answered. So often in the last two weeks I have gotten to see an answer to my prayers be answered before my very eyes. It's hard to explain but the best way I could describe it is watching an artist create a masterpiece. You may know what they are going to create yet as you watch it unfold before your eyes it is better than you could ever have imagined. The artist isn’t done but I am rejoicing in what He has created so far and I wait in anticipation for the rest.
